Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of tax returns do you prepare?
We’re generalists and prepare most types of returns: individuals, small businesses, trusts, and estates. However, we do not prepare the following:

  • Nonprofit returns (e.g., Form 990)

  • Foreign partnerships or corporations

  • Individual returns with complex foreign income (e.g., foreign partnerships)

  • Business personal property tax renditions

  • Other highly specialized returns, which we’ll let you know if they arise

If something is outside our expertise, we’ll tell you upfront. No guesswork.

Where are you located?
We’re based in North Richland Hills, TX, a suburb of Fort Worth.

Do you serve clients outside the Dallas–Fort Worth area?
Yes, absolutely. We work with clients all over the U.S. through a secure client portal and virtual meetings. If you're local and prefer to meet in person, we’re happy to accommodate—but it's entirely optional.

Can you prepare state tax returns for clients outside Texas?
Yes. We prepare all applicable state returns regardless of where you're located.

I have a complicated tax issue. Can you help? What do you charge?
Yes, we provide tax advisory services. We'll gather some background on your issue, perform any necessary research, and typically respond in writing. We charge an hourly rate of $250, and most issues can be resolved in 1–2 hours.

How do I know if I need tax planning?
If you had a large balance due when you filed your return, tax planning could likely help.

Wage earners often don’t need much planning since tax is automatically withheld from their paychecks. But business owners, investors, and high-income individuals without withholding mechanisms should consider tax planning to avoid surprises at filing time.

Are you CPAs?
No, at the moment, no one here has the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) credential. We are Enrolled Agents (EAs)—federally licensed tax professionals authorized by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Enrolled Agents are the only tax professionals licensed directly by the IRS. We specialize exclusively in taxation and are authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS in all matters, including audits, collections, and appeals.

There’s a great deal of overlap between tax-focused CPAs and Enrolled Agents—both are highly qualified to prepare tax returns, offer tax planning, and represent clients before the IRS. In fact, many EAs and CPAs do virtually the same kind of tax work. The main difference is that CPAs are licensed at the state level and can provide certain accounting services—such as financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations—that Enrolled Agents cannot. However, these services are rarely needed by individual taxpayers or most small businesses, so for the vast majority of clients, the distinction makes no practical difference.

For more information about the Enrolled Agent credential, visit the IRS page.

Do you help your clients get the biggest refund possible?
Of course. Before we begin, you’ll complete a detailed intake questionnaire to help us identify every deduction and credit you qualify for. If you're legally entitled to it, we’ll claim it.

Do you guarantee a certain refund amount?
No. We guarantee that your return will be accurate and compliant with federal and state laws based on the information you provide. Whether that results in a refund or a balance due depends on your unique tax situation.

How do I send you my documents?
We use a secure online client portal where you can upload documents safely and conveniently. You can also drop documents off at our office if you’re local.

Do you offer bookkeeping services?
Yes. We offer monthly bookkeeping services for small businesses, often bundled with payroll services, tax planning, and tax preparation.

What’s the best time to reach out for help?
Anytime! But if you’re a business owner or expect significant changes this year—new job, new business, major purchases—reaching out before year-end allows us to be proactive and minimize your tax liability.
